Pharmacist - Oncology Specialist

This pharmacist will provide pharmacy services at Upstate's Cancer Center at Verona and other associated Upstate oncology clinics. The Cancer Center Pharmacy functions via a dedicated pharmacy space with its own modern sterile products laboratory.

Under the direction of the hospital's Pharmacy Department, the pharmacist will work with a team to manage the preparation and oversight of oncology treatments, including patient profile review, sterile and non-sterile medication validation/preparation, patient counseling, formulary/inventory management, and staff/provider communication.

The pharmacist will interpret medication orders and prescriptions to ensure they are complete, safe, rational, and compatible with institutional policy. They will prepare compounds and dispense medications for inpatient and ambulatory care use, including the preparation of injectable sterile products.

The pharmacist will also provide information to health care practitioners to promote the rational use of medications, provide drug monitoring service, and maintain Pharmacy records by law and institutional policy.

Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm.D., NYS license and registration required; completion of PGY1 Pharmacy residency or equivalent experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous hospital experience preferred. Previous pharmacy oncology experience or completion of a PGY-2 Oncology Residency preferred.
