About the Role

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking a dedicated Instructional Aide 1:1 to join our team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of our students. As a key member of our staff, you will provide individualized supervision and instruction to assigned students, working closely with the core classroom staff to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist classroom teachers in creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere that fosters high expectations for student learning.
  • Implement on-site and community-based curriculum instruction and behavioral intervention strategies aligned with the goals and objectives of each student.
  • Provide individualized instruction and support to students during lessons, utilizing instructional strategies to assist with student learning and help students meet requirements for course completion.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate with the classroom teacher to ensure consistency and effectiveness of interventions.
  • Manage student behavior by upholding the Spectrum philosophy and policies, and applying appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Support students with academic issues, providing encouragement and guidance to help them improve their skills and achieve their goals.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of student behavior, reporting observations to relevant staff and making recommendations as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent with passage of basic skills test.
  • Associate degree or higher in an education or closely related field preferred.
  • Licensed as or have the ability to obtain a paraprofessional, paraeducator, teaching assistant or similar credential preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children, preferably in an alternative or special education program setting.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with autism spectrum related disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders and/or challenging behaviors preferred.
