Job Summary:
The Medication Assistant will be responsible for assisting with the administration of medications to residents, maintaining accurate medical records, and providing exceptional care and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and assist with self-administration of prescribed medications to residents under the supervision of the RN and/or LPN.
- Verify resident identity and record medication administration on specified forms.
- Present medication to residents and observe ingestion or application.
- Take vital signs and detect unexpected reactions.
- Document reasons for non-ingestion of prescribed medications.
- Adhere to community medication policies.
- Administer medications via various routes, including oral, topical, and transdermal.
- May receive medication supplies from the pharmacy and restock inventory.
- Complete annual medication training and provide personal care to residents.
Requirements:
- Meet state requirements for medication assistance.
- Preferably experience in medication assistance with older adults.
- Demonstrate organizational skills and a mature, pleasant personality.
