Position Summary:
The Principal FPGA Design Engineer will lead the development of Xilinx Synq RFSoC for the physical layer and ORAN processing within Cellular Base Station projects, contributing to the advancement of 5G technology.

Key Responsibilities:
This role involves collaboration with system engineers, FPGA specialists, and firmware developers to create robust radio unit designs. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing RTL designs, simulating, and implementing eCPRI interfaces
  • Managing uplink and downlink processing, including PRACH signal flows
  • Creating synchronization and management plane functions
  • Interfacing with embedded ARM cores and radio control software
  • Engaging with peripherals such as USB, SPI, I2C, and DDR4
  • Leading prototype bring-up, debugging, and functional verification efforts

The engineer will ensure high-quality digital designs for the FPGA architecture within a 5G NR Base Station, utilizing Xilinx Zynq RFSoC technology.

Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $160,000 to $276,000, determined by factors such as experience, education, and skills.

Qualifications:
Candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields; advanced degrees are highly regarded
  • Over 7 years of design experience with Xilinx RFSoC or MPSoc
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in crafting RTL for high-speed designs
  • Hands-on experience with FPGA debugging using integrated logic analyzers and oscilloscopes
  • Familiarity with modem or DSP algorithm development in FPGAs or ASICs
  • Experience in PCB design requirements and complex PCB bring-up
  • Knowledge of Xilinx IP primitives and their interfaces
  • Proficiency in Xilinx Vivado and Petalinux
  • Understanding of cellular system layer 1 signal processing and related technologies

Physical Requirements:
The role requires regular sitting, talking, and hearing, with occasional walking and standing. The employee may need to lift up to 25 pounds and should have close vision capabilities.

Work Environment:
The work environment is typically quiet, with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts.
