Job Title: Protestant Music Director

Location: Fort Leavenworth, KS

Duties:

  • Collaborate with the Religious Support Office team to identify the Government's Protestant music requirements for scheduled worship services.
  • Select music that aligns with the worship service's theme and theology, and provide creative planning to prepare a worship set that is consistent with the common practice.
  • Provide music selections to the Chaplain Sponsor in a timely manner for inclusion in the presentation software.
  • Develop and deliver an annual musical calendar, planning services in consultation with Chaplains and Religious Education Coordinators.
  • Offer guidance on music-related matters and coordinate music ministry activities.
  • Coach and coordinate individuals involved in music ministry, assisting them in improving their musical skills and proficiency.
  • Utilize digital worship music software (e.g., Proclaim/PowerPoint/CCLI) to create music slides for services as needed.
  • Maintain a digital music library with current resource material and ensure compliance with copyright laws.
  • Provide musical support during designated worship services, leading the congregation in singing hymns, choruses, and spiritual songs.
  • Coordinate with instrumentalists to adjust tempo and style of musical arrangements to enhance the congregation's participation in worship.
  • Support worship services and perform site preparation and restoration activities as necessary.
  • Coordinate and conduct choir rehearsal services.
  • Attend all scheduled services, missing no more than two per year.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Must possess experience as a music director in religious worship settings, with sufficient experience playing piano or musical instruments appropriate for public worship services.
  • A minimum of two years of experience is required.
