At SpaceX, we are pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. We are seeking a highly skilled Thermal Engineer to join our Starship Thermal Analysis team.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for the thermal design, test, and validation of vehicles and hardware. This includes making engineering decisions to improve vehicle performance and reliability to help create a fully reusable transportation system designed to carry both crew and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
Responsibilities:- Develop and implement thermal design solutions for spacecraft, launch vehicles, and hardware.
- Conduct thermal analysis and testing to validate performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement performance and robustness improvements.
- Produce high-quality documentation to support engineering decisions and reduce miss-rate.
- Review and provide feedback on peer work.
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
- At least 1 year of experience using engineering simulation software such as MATLAB.
- Strong understanding of spacecraft and/or launch vehicle systems.
- Experience with 0-D and 1-D thermal/fluid networks.
- Experience with Thermal Desktop and/or ANSYS Workbench.
- Working knowledge of scripting languages (specifically Python).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to deliver against an aggressive schedule.
- Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
