GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE:

The Hair Care Specialist is tasked with engaging clients, assessing their hair care requirements, and suggesting suitable products and services.

This role emphasizes delivering high-quality professional services that enhance the client's overall appearance.

Support the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) by focusing on performance metrics (service sales and productivity), guest relations, and adherence to operational procedures and compliance standards.

A passion for the beauty sector, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to learn and convey product knowledge are essential.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Hair Care Specialist embodies Ulta Beauty's mission, vision, and values, consistently demonstrating them through the following duties:

Performance:

• Execute hair services including design, cuts, coloring, texturing, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (if applicable).

• Achieve or surpass an average weekly sales target of $800 and productivity goals for hair services by providing outstanding customer service and contributing to the store's objectives related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and inventory management.

• Exhibit business insight by recognizing growth opportunities.

• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and the customer experience.

• Assist in executing in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives that create an exceptional guest experience.

• Stay informed about new and existing industry trends, products, and services, and share this knowledge with guests.

• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

People:

• Build relationships with clients through consultations and appropriate product and service recommendations.

• Uphold high standards of customer service and salon presentation.

• Serve all clients, including walk-ins, promptly and efficiently.

• Collaborate with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a comprehensive guest experience.

• Foster professional relationships with peers and brand partners to enhance guest service.

• Promote the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, to clients in the salon and on the sales floor.

• Attend mandatory training sessions and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process:

• Ensure knowledge of and compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards.

• Adhere to safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols before, during, and after services, ensuring compliance with state regulations.

• Follow established service protocols to guarantee a consistent and exceptional guest experience.

• Utilize appropriate booking and client management systems to schedule return services and events.

• Communicate supply needs to the EM to ensure guest readiness at all times.

• Maintain high operational standards, including cleanliness of the salon, sales floor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and any additional assigned areas.

• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code.

• Protect company assets by following loss prevention best practices and delivering exceptional guest service.

• Execute other operational tasks as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• Valid cosmetology license.

Experience:

• Previous relevant salon experience is preferred.

Skills:

• Proficiency in the latest salon techniques for haircutting, coloring, styling, texturing, treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing services (if applicable) or the ability to develop skills in all service categories.

• Proficiency in using equipment and chemicals necessary for technical work.

• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.

• Strong communication skills.

• Capability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Frequent mobility during shifts.

• Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs. during shifts.

• Frequent stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, twisting, and crouching during shifts.

• Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts.

• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects during shifts.
