Multi-Purpose Clerk


The Multi-Purpose Clerk may be assigned to various departments within the store, including Center Store, Produce, Meat/Seafood, Bakery/Deli, or Janitorial.

This role involves driving sales within the assigned department, addressing customer inquiries, fulfilling product requests, and accurately processing special orders.

The Multi-Purpose Clerk adheres to safe food handling practices, ensuring a clean and organized workspace free from hazards.

Responsibilities include receiving, inspecting, and logging products for shipment accuracy and quality, as well as stocking, rotating, and merchandising items to maintain freshness and appeal.

Key Responsibilities:

The Multi-Purpose Clerk may be tasked with duties in any of the following areas:

  • Center Store/Front End: Operate the checkstand in accordance with company policies, memorize PLU codes, and stay updated on new products; manage inventory activities and ensure product availability.
  • Produce: Inspect and log incoming products; prepare and maintain produce displays; ensure cleanliness in all areas of the department.
  • Meat/Seafood: Handle product inspection and packaging; provide customer service at the seafood counter; maintain cleanliness and organization.
  • Bakery/Deli: Prepare and package baked goods; manage special orders; ensure cleanliness and compliance with safety standards.
  • Janitorial: Maintain store cleanliness, including sales floors and restrooms; operate janitorial equipment as needed.

Common Duties Across Departments:

  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the store.
  • May operate equipment such as forklifts or balers if certified.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Compensation:

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with urgency and self-motivation.
  • Proactive and flexible approach to tasks.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent experience.

Experience: Minimum of six months in a related role.

Other:
Availability to work various retail hours; must be at least 18 years old.

Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing and physical activity; ability to lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
