Editor Job Description

LHH is seeking a skilled Editor to manage all aspects of the publication process for our client, a renowned national nonprofit. This includes financial operations, content collection, peer review, production, and distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee publication functions to ensure timely release and maintain high-quality content.
  • Manage the Editorial Board, including support for meetings, agendas, and presentations, to enhance the company's impact and reach.
  • Oversee financial functions, ensuring budget adherence and efficient operations, to drive business growth.
  • Partner with editorial leadership to develop strategies for journal growth and visibility, leveraging industry trends and best practices.
  • Manage peer-review and production processes, driving efficiencies and innovations to improve the publication process.
  • Provide training for Editorial Manager and create materials for authors, reviewers, and editors to ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external partners related to the journals, fostering strong relationships and communication.
  • Supervise the Publications Coordinator, including performance reviews and professional development, to ensure a high-performing team.
  • Bachelor's degree required, with a minimum of 5 years of editorial office experience, including 2+ years in a managerial role.
  • Proven experience working with Editorial Boards and senior executives, with a strong understanding of journal P&L, peer review, and production management software.
  • Excellent writing, copyediting, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a technical capacity and attention to detail.
  • Effective time management and teamwork orientation, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
