Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer to join our team at the City of Atlanta. As a key member of our Airport Engineering department, you will be responsible for providing technical direction and guidance on plumbing and fire protection systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform technical studies and generate preliminary design documents for plumbing and fire protection systems.
  • Assist in preparing specifications and facility-wide technical standards for plumbing and fire protection systems.
  • Review construction documents for compliance with engineering principles, department standards, contract requirements, and specifications.
  • Coordinate with Resident Engineers and non-engineering staff to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Provide design guidance for construction and maintenance projects related to plumbing and fire protection systems.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, consultant/tenant design documents, and planning reports for plumbing and fire protection systems.
  • Interface with other P&D units, maintenance, management, tenants, outside consultants, construction contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, such as Mechanical Engineering, or a minimum of 2 years of related technical experience.
  • Certified in Plumbing Design by ASPE required. NFPA certification is a plus. Professional registration in Georgia as a PE is a plus.
  • Valid State Issued Driver's License required.
Working Environment

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with occasional travel to construction sites and meetings. Physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities are requirements to perform the job successfully.
