Overview:
Seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a float pool role, providing care across various units within the facility. This position requires flexibility and a strong clinical background in critical care nursing.

Facility Information:
The hospital features a total of 270 beds, and the float pool nurse will be required to adapt to different units as needed.

Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 1.5 years of nursing experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is mandatory
- Must possess ICU-level nursing skills and be willing to float to MedSurg/Tele units

Patient Care Responsibilities:
- Understand that this role involves floating across various departments, ensuring care is within the scope of practice
- Common patient diagnoses include:
- Orthopedic
- Neurological (Stroke, Transient Ischemic Attack)
- Surgical
- Medical (e.g., Urinary Tract Infection, Pneumonia)
- Intermediate Care (e.g., Sepsis, Diabetic Ketoacidosis)
- Oncology
- Cardiac and Vascular (e.g., Chest Pain, Heart Failure)

Patient Ratios:
- RN: 1:4-5

Certifications Required:
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Educational Background:
- Completion of an accredited nursing program
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in South Dakota
- BSN is required

Essential Skills:
- Proficient in ICU-level nursing with a willingness to float to Med/Tele units
- Experience with titration of medications including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levo, Dopamine, and Insulin
- Capable of performing cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, and blood product administration

Unit Support:
- Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) available on all units
- Charge nurses dedicated to each unit
- 24/7 availability of respiratory therapy and hospitalists

Charting and Equipment:
- Familiarity with Epic charting system is preferred
- Experience with Omnicell and Alaris IV pumps is beneficial

Floating Requirements:
- This role involves regular floating between ICU, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Medical, Progressive Care Unit, Oncology, and Heart and Vascular units
