Position Overview:

The Lead Surgical Technologist is responsible for overseeing, organizing, and coordinating the comprehensive preparation of the sterile environment for surgical procedures, including staff management and task assignments.

This role involves directing, implementing, and refining policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance workflow, boost efficiency, and fortify quality assurance standards.

The Lead Surgical Technologist operates independently while supporting departmental functionality by managing supply distribution, conducting equipment maintenance, testing, and setup as required.

In addition, this position directly assists the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, and anticipating the needs of surgeons throughout the surgery.

It is essential to ensure that all treatments are administered in accordance with best practices, accreditation standards, and relevant State and Federal regulations.

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED

Other:
Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program
OR Military training as a surgical technician

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
4 years of recent relevant experience.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Proven expertise in surgical instruments, procedures, views, and equipment.
Comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
Ability to interpret various forms of data and instructions, whether written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including those without medical backgrounds.

Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work within established operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.

Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Ensure that all surgical technicians consistently adhere to aseptic techniques.

Delegate and prioritize tasks while working within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to fulfill departmental objectives and meet deadlines.

Work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team, managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
Identify, assess, and resolve complex issues that arise with minimal precedent.
Safeguard the privacy of each patient's protected health information (PHI).
Foster collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare professionals to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
Demonstrate knowledge of disinfection, sterilization, and environmental control measures.

This salary range may vary based on location and is influenced by factors such as a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is one component of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health, which also includes a comprehensive benefits package.
