Role Responsibilities:

  • Enforce established rules and regulations to ensure the safety of personnel, visitors, and property.
  • Maintain security for designated areas and possess a thorough understanding of various departments, buildings, access routes, and entry requirements.
  • Operate and monitor security systems, alarms, and related equipment to ensure effective surveillance.
  • Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas, identifying suspicious activities and enforcing city regulations.
  • Respond to and investigate incidents reported to control rooms, coordinating with appropriate authorities when necessary.
  • Verify identification of individuals entering city facilities and provide necessary information and guidance.
  • Keep a guest registry as directed, ensuring that all users have exited the premises, and report any security or maintenance issues to the relevant authorities.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of incidents, completing required documentation and utilizing computer systems for data management.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of the City of Atlanta's organizational policies and procedures.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in operating equipment that requires minimal training.
  • Ability to advise, screen, and refer visitors and callers appropriately.
  • Comprehend non-routine notes, written instructions, and general policy statements.

  • Collaboration between supervisor and staff in planning, assigning, and scheduling work.
  • Supervisor provides guidance primarily in new situations or methods that are not clearly linked to existing tasks.
