Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Technologist to join our team in the Cardiology Cath Lab. As a Cardiovascular Technologist, you will be responsible for performing interventional cardiac and vascular radiography procedures for in and out patients. You will assist radiologists and other specialists in performing invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including angiograms, ablations, angioplasties, and stent placements.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality radiographs and specialized studies in a timely manner for Cardiac and Vascular procedures.
  • Prepare contrast media and administer as ordered through intravascular route or power injector as ordered by the attending physician in the lab.
  • Demonstrate and model competency in various modalities in the Cath Lab, including Electrophysiology, Interventional Radiology, and Cath Lab.
  • Perform in a scrub or circulating position independently within the Cardiac and Vascular Cath Labs.
  • Operate the hemodynamic monitor, record procedure notes, collect all required data, and perform data entry.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of PACS system function and mechanics, troubleshoot on all modalities of recording, and prepare images for presentation of cases for Cath Conferences.
  • Explain and prepare patients for procedures, assist patients with proper positioning for imaging and catheterization, and practice medical and surgical aseptic and sterile techniques.
  • Document patient assessment/history related to procedures and provide patient care and education to meet patient's physical and psychological needs.
  • Timely and accurately submit medical coding documentation to ensure proper billing.
  • Perform and document equipment quality control according to department protocols, recognize and report any malfunction or variation to supervisor for recommended service or replacement.
  • Maintain manual and computerized patient, department, and hospital records, initiate computer archive functions to store and/or retrieve patient information, and perform associated clerical tasks as needed.
  • Teach and assist other Cath Lab staff in the administration and techniques used in Cath Lab procedures, assist as needed in the scheduling and daily flow of the Cath Lab patient.
  • Assist with post-procedural care if instructed by the RN.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions to Manager at the time of system failure.
  • Facilitate and participate in planning changes and improvements, evaluate new procedures as requested by the Manager, and utilize knowledge of the Performance Improvement Cycle to improve work processes.
Qualifications
  • Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES); OR Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and State of Nevada license for Radiography (if ARRT licensed).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for healthcare providers required within six (6) months of hire.
  • Knowledge of coronary and peripheral vascular anatomy and physiology, Electrophysiology, EP or cardiac ablation, and medical terminology. Preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience in Cardiac Catheterizations, Electrophysiology, or Interventional Radiology.
  • ARRT specialty certification in cardiac interventional and/or vascular interventional radiography OR CCI RCIS or RCES certification.
