Position Overview

Happy Day Transit, a family-owned transportation service provider in New York City, is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as School Bus Operators. With a fleet of 75 vehicles, we pride ourselves on delivering safe and reliable transportation for children in Brooklyn and Queens.

Flexible Employment Options

We offer both full-time and part-time positions. As a School Bus Operator, your primary duties will include:

  • Safely transporting children along designated routes to various locations.
  • Conducting thorough pre-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Adhering to traffic regulations while operating the vehicle.
  • Ensuring the safety and timely arrival of all passengers.

Each route is supported by an attendant to assist with the children, enhancing the safety and comfort of our young passengers.

Compensation and Benefits

Our full-time School Bus Operators enjoy a competitive compensation package, which includes:

  • Starting salary of at least $24.05 per hour, with opportunities for overtime.
  • Guaranteed working hours.
  • Weekly direct deposit for your convenience.
  • Year-round employment, including summer school routes.
  • Paid sick leave, holidays, attendance bonuses, and referral bonuses.
  • Consistent weekends and holidays off.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Possession of a valid New York State Commercial Driver's License (Class C, B, or A) with a "P" Passenger endorsement.
  • The "S" School bus endorsement is not mandatory.
  • Must not have a CDL with an "N2" restriction.
  • Successful completion of a drug test and background check.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
