The primary objective of this position is to perform preventative maintenance duties, inspect equipment, diagnose issues, and, under limited supervision, repair and maintain dragline equipment. The technician operates equipment for maintenance purposes, performs routine repair and maintenance involving disassembly, overhaul, assembly, and adjustments of equipment components, and adheres to service manuals and managerial directives.
The ideal candidate will safely use hand tools, power tools, shop machines, and hoists, as well as welding equipment, to perform simple cutting, fitting, and welding tasks as directed. Additionally, the technician will perform mechanic helper and shop attendant duties as required.
Three years of experience in dragline repair or heavy excavating is preferred.
Key Qualifications
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions and perform dirty, greasy duties.
- Ability to work unusual schedules and overtime.
- Able to safely lift and carry a 50-pound load.
- Ability to perform moderate physical labor.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Dragline Mechanic experience and adaptability.
- Able to learn and understand work rules, safety rules, and plant operating procedures.
- Able to communicate effectively with other employees.
