Position Responsibilities: This role is focused on preparing nutritious meals for our clients while ensuring adherence to sanitation standards, cost management, and the overall organization of the kitchen.

Key Duties Include:

  1. Prepare and serve nutritious meals at appropriate temperatures.
  2. Oversee food preparation and cooking processes in the kitchen.
  3. Mentor and train clients and volunteers in kitchen operations.
  4. Adhere to all food safety regulations set by local health authorities.
  5. Maintain a well-stocked serving line during meal times.
  6. Ensure cleanliness of kitchen areas, including floors, equipment, and serving areas.
  7. Contribute to team and organizational goals as outlined in performance metrics and annual objectives.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED required; prior experience in food service preparation is essential; Servsafe or food handlers certification is mandatory. Experience in preparing meals for children is preferred.

Skills Required: This position demands the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team; willingness to be cross-trained in various kitchen roles is necessary. Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are essential. A genuine commitment to serving vulnerable populations is crucial. The role requires maturity, sensitivity to faith and cultural diversity, and the social skills to navigate job-related challenges professionally. Supervisory skills for interns or volunteers are also required.

Physical Requirements: Candidates must be able to withstand outdoor temperatures typical of Florida and endure extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Must possess the ability to lift 50 lbs or more safely.

Additional Information: Candidates must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States and possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Flexibility in work schedule is required, especially during peak periods and holidays. Successful candidates will pass pre-employment background checks.
