Adapted Swim Instructor

River Crossing YMCA is a charitable organization dedicated to strengthening communities through membership and programs that foster youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are seeking an Adapted Private Swim Lesson Instructor to join our team.

Job Summary

This part-time position involves working with individuals with disabilities to help them achieve their swim goals. The successful candidate will create and work towards client goals, develop strong relationships with participants and their families, and provide feedback on individual performance.

Responsibilities

• Work with individuals with disabilities to help them achieve their swim goals.
• Create and work towards client goals developed at the beginning of the session.
• Develop strong relationships with participants and their families through written and oral communication and actions.
• Provide feedback to participants and parents/guardians on individual performance.
• Maintain confidentiality of all participants.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have demonstrated experience working with children in adapted activities (water activities/swimming preferred).
• Have swimming experience.
• Be interested in special Olympics, physical rehabilitation, physical, recreational, and occupational therapies, kinesiology.
• Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
• Able to do physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
