Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment. As a Floor Care Technician with the Virginia Department of Human Resource Management, you will be responsible for ensuring that all floors and surfaces are properly cleaned and maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform dust mopping, wet mopping, and auto scrubbing on a daily basis, using proper cleaning techniques and germicidal chemicals and solutions.
  • Maintain and upkeep floors by routine buffing and top scrubbing, and applying finish as needed.
  • Clean and extract carpets at scheduled times and as needed.
  • Monitor the condition of all hard surface floors to determine needs and work with applicable staff to plan and schedule work.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of all floor areas, and for sustaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
Requirements
  • Prior work experience in the use of industrial grade floor care equipment used to buff floors, strip and refinish floors, buff/top scrub/apply finish to floors, and steam clean/extract carpet.
  • Knowledge and application of cleaning instructions according to policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work an alternative shift as assigned to ensure safety and minimize disruptions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in environmental services in a psychiatric, healthcare facility, acute care, long-term or correctional setting.
  • Veterans and people with National Service experience.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English.
