Job Summary

East Side House Settlement is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at the Mitchel Community Center in the Bronx, NY. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the facility, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our staff, clients, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting, to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Restock supplies and materials as needed.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of facilities for meetings, events, and programs.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager or Site Supervisor.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in maintenance or custodial work preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
Working Conditions

The Custodian will work a part-time schedule, Tuesday through Saturday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
