Plant Biologist

We are seeking a dedicated Plant Biologist to engage in essential activities related to the provision of transgenic crops for experimental evaluation. This role involves executing various plant tissue culture procedures, such as inoculating with bacteria, conducting sterile tissue transfers, and transplanting plants into soil. A proactive approach and a collaborative spirit are crucial for success in this position.

Salary: $24 - $27 per hour
Shift: First
Work Hours: 8 AM - 5 PM
Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree

• Plant Tissue Culture: This includes transferring plant material between agar gels while maintaining sterile conditions. Additionally, it involves relocating plant material to soil and collecting samples for genetic analysis.
• Seed Preparation and Inoculation: Inoculating prepared seeds with the gene of interest and managing experimental setups and cleanups.
• Experimental Monitoring: Documenting and reporting on the outcomes of tissue culture experiments, ensuring effective communication and accurate record-keeping.
• Laboratory Maintenance and Inventory: Organizing the lab space for daily operations and conducting routine cleaning tasks.

• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, cellular biology, biotechnology, or a related discipline.
• Experience in tissue culture techniques.
• Familiarity with sterile techniques.
• A background in scientific research.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with LIMS systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Sterile Technique (1 year of experience preferred)
• Plant Biology (1 year of experience required)
• Tissue Culture (1 year of experience required)
• LIMS knowledge
• Microsoft Excel (5 years of experience required)

• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
• Position is classified as Experienced.
