Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist Level II to join their team in Waco, Texas.

Job Summary

The Surgical Technologist Level II will function in the interoperative phase of patient care to expedite surgical procedures, under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the surgical team through the use of equipment and instrumentation to ensure a safe operating room environment.
  • Prepare the operative site by aseptically cleaning and patient clipping, as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain the instrument table(s) in an organized and comprehensive manner.
  • Identify damaged or incomplete trays and rectify discrepancies immediately.
  • Set up the operating room according to surgical procedure schedules.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies during surgical procedures.
  • Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, instruments, and misc. items, according to established policies and procedures.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team staff.
  • Pass sterile supplies and equipment to surgeons and assistants during procedures.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited OR other nationally accredited surgical technologist program.
  • Certification as a (CST) surgical technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or the National Center for Competency Testing or their successor.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
