We are seeking a skilled Emergency Medicine Physician to join our team at Aya Locums. This is a temporary assignment, often lasting weeks or months, to address staffing shortages in hospitals and other healthcare facilities with emergency departments.
Job Responsibilities
As an Emergency Medicine Physician, you will be responsible for providing prompt and comprehensive medical care to patients experiencing a wide range of emergencies and acute illnesses in the emergency department. Your duties will include conducting thorough patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests, diagnosing and stabilizing patients with life-threatening conditions, developing and implementing treatment plans for various acute medical and surgical emergencies, performing emergency procedures such as suturing, wound care and splinting, as needed, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays, CT scans) to guide treatment decisions, prescribing medications and managing pain effectively, communicating effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care, documenting patient care accurately and thoroughly in the medical record, and maintaining a calm and professional demeanor in high-pressure situations.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school, board certification in emergency, internal or family medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM), the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), the American Board of Family Medicine or the AOA, and an active and unrestricted medical license in California. Additionally, you will need to have at least one year of experience working in an emergency department setting. We are looking for a physician who is adaptable, able to remain calm under pressure, and has excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
