Floating PolicyStaff may float to other medical/surgical areas as needed, including general medical-surgical, orthopedic, progressive care unit (PCU), and surgical oncology.
Patient Experience StandardsEngagement in bedside rounding and hourly rounding, ensuring effective communication of patient needs to PCTs at the beginning and throughout shifts. Regular checks of departmental focus areas are essential.
Desired SkillsPreferred: Cardiac knowledge
Advanced Skills: Proficiency in managing Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips.
Procedures PerformedChest tube management, wound vac management, and EKGs as needed.
Dress CodeNurses are required to wear navy scrubs, while CNAs/PCTs may wear ceil blue scrubs. Underneath, plain white, blue, grey, or black t-shirts are permitted, provided they are free of graphics. Artificial nails and gel nail polish are not allowed.
Unit PoliciesDocumentation of telemetry application is mandatory, along with acknowledging rhythm strips in patient charts each shift. A strict no-pass zone is enforced for bed alarms, call lights, and IV alarms.
Awards and RecognitionThe unit has received numerous accolades, including Daisy and Bee Awards, with stories and photos shared on the hospital's platforms.
Additional InformationThe unit boasts experienced Charge Nurses on both day and night shifts, fostering a collaborative environment through shared governance.
