Archivist Specialist

About the Job:
As a Senior Archivist - Visual Resources with Providence, you will play a crucial role in managing our extensive visual resources, including print collections, negatives, film, videotape, and born-digital assets. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the selection, preservation, processing, and access to these resources, ensuring their integrity and usability for future generations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the digital asset management system (DAM) and maintain the content management system (CMS)
- Oversee the selection, preservation, processing, and access to visual resources in all formats
- Ensure confidentiality and good judgment when dealing with sensitive historical and visual materials

Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in History, American Studies, or a related discipline with knowledge of photograph conservation and history of photographic processes
- 5 years of archives experience involving administration of photographic and visual resources, preservation, arrangement, and description, reference, and coordination responsibilities
- 3 years of experience with archival database software required, familiarity with archival preservation standards and reformatting options
- Thorough knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications
