Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse Educator to join our team at Fulton Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, a 176-bed rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility located near Albany and Syracuse, New York.

Job Summary:

This is a key leadership role in our organization, responsible for developing and implementing staff development programs that meet NYSDOH and other regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Nurse Educator in Long Term Care and a current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive staff development programs focusing on safety, body mechanics, infection control, and hazardous infectious materials.
  • Maintain educational standards by coaching, counseling, and participating in disciplinary processes, as well as planning, monitoring, and evaluating job results.
  • Stay updated with professional knowledge through workshops, reviewing publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Document educational activities, attendance, and responses.
  • Report on active projects, reactions, and progress daily, weekly, and monthly.
  • Participate in QAPI monthly meetings and projects.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Quality and Director of Nursing to plan, coordinate, and implement staff programs and services for a well-educated staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist in data collection for assessment and evaluation purposes.
  • Consult with and inform the Director of Quality and Director of Nursing as necessary.
  • Maintain close contact with employees on leave, disability, or workman's compensation, and their physicians to facilitate their earliest possible return to work.
  • Review incident reports and OSHA reports involving employees injured at work and coordinate education and loss prevention programs with our safety program.
  • Provide annual tuberculosis screening for volunteers and direct follow-up procedures for positive testing within the scope of practice and under the direction of the Director of Nursing.
Requirements:
  • $65,000 - $75,000 per year, depending on experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Nurse Educator in Long Term Care
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Previous experience working in a long-term care setting
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively educate and coach
  • CPR certification required, CPR trainer certified or willing to become a trainer
  • Training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices
  • Able to interact, educate, coach, and communicate with a wide range of individuals in a courteous, tactful, and effective manner
  • High ethical standards regarding discretion and confidentiality
  • Commitment to basic ethical and legal principles
  • Knowledge of emergency preparedness, safety, fire, disaster, and OSHA
  • Knowledgeable of infection control procedures
