Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled LPN/EMTI/Paramedic to join our team as a float position in Family Medicine. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Administer nursing care and treat patients in the medical office, as directed by Physician, Advanced Clinical Provider, Registered Nurse or supervising department manager.
  • Prepares patient for and assists with examinations, administers injections and medications, dress wounds and incisions, and provides accurate and consistent information to the patient using an established protocol.
  • Collects patient data and maintains records of vital statistics and physiological/biological information in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  • Applies standardized check-in components in daily workflow, cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment, and maintains stock of supplies and medications.
  • Orders supplies as needed for department, conducts specified laboratory tests as needed, and administers nebulized breathing treatments.
  • Acts as receptionist, performs secretarial duties, communicates with insurance companies, and calls in/faxes prescriptions.
  • Completes required school/sport/day care forms, communicates with managed care for prior authorizations, and schedules procedures on campus and off site.
  • Responsible to respond to/triage patient phone calls and messages as appropriate, educates and instructs patients and their family members on any medications, treatment plans, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within scope of practice for their license/certification.
Requirements
  • LPNs: Active NC or Compact LPN License, successfully completed and passed an accredited Practical Nursing Program.
  • General: BLS/CPR Certification, 8-8 weekdays and 8-5 weekends on rotation and per manager discretion subject to change, weekend rotations and holiday shifts required, full-time availability.
  • Preferred: One year clinical experience.

  • Meds/IVs: Knowledgeable on how to administer oral, nebulized, or injected medications or vaccines, able to answer questions regarding medications if called up on by family/staff.
  • Specimen Collection: When needed by the physician/advanced medical provider, able to obtain urine, bowel, or nasal specimens.
  • Assessment Skills: Knowledgeable about Pediatric vital signs- normal vs. abnormal, able to communicate any abnormality to providers/advanced medical providers, possess the skill to assess a sick/well child in a timely manner.
  • Phone Skills/Triage Equipment Use/Maintenance: Has the communication skills to answer questions posed by family/patients.
  • Procedures: Possess the skills to assist with procedures as indicated.
  • Computer Knowledge: Demonstrate proficiency with all aspects of EMR for clinic needs.
  • Documentation: Able to document any skills performed, orders completed, and assessments see in the EMR.
