We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the University of the South. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our academic and residential buildings.

• Clean and maintain offices, classrooms, residential spaces, and restroom facilities to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty, and staff.
• Replenish supplies in public use areas, private baths, custodial closets, and carts to ensure a well-stocked and efficient operation.
• Sweep, dust mop, wet mop, vacuum, strip, and wax floors regularly to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Dust and clean walls, doors, windows, and sills regularly to maintain a clean and well-maintained appearance.
• Dust, wax, and clean furniture, equipment, baseboards, and window sills to maintain a clean and well-maintained appearance.
• Remove trash and recyclable materials to containment areas to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Reset furniture in classroom areas and public spaces as necessary to maintain a clean and organized environment.
• Report building security problems, damaged structures or equipment, and other maintenance problems to the supervisor or lead worker to ensure prompt attention and resolution.
• Clean grounds adjacent to assigned building(s) to maintain a clean and well-maintained appearance.
• Operate various mechanical, electrical, and battery-operated machines to aid in performing the above tasks and duties.
• Attend training and information sessions as required to maintain a high level of knowledge and skills.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six months of experience in janitorial or related custodial work required.
• Ability to follow instructions, both written and verbal.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

This position requires working in various buildings throughout campus, including academic buildings, athletic facilities, residential living spaces, rental housing units, and other areas as assigned.

• Must be able to climb (many stairs, ladders).
• Must be able to crawl and/or kneel for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to push and/or pull objects.
• Must be able to use feet for repetitive tasks.

• Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds and carry working loads up to 50 pounds (Medium work) without assistance.
