Role Responsibilities:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist I will:
- Conduct various laboratory tests on biological specimens, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Maintain quality control measures and adhere to laboratory protocols.
- Engage in pre-analytical and post-analytical processes, including equipment maintenance and result reporting.
- Provide training and guidance to new staff and students under supervision.
Key Contributions:
- Perform essential laboratory activities, including specimen collection and processing.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations while participating in proficiency testing.
- Document and communicate laboratory results effectively, addressing any abnormal findings as necessary.
- Support the education of clinical staff and assist in resolving customer service inquiries.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow established safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling of hazardous materials.
- Adhere to the Chemical Hygiene Plan and Infection Control policies.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in a relevant scientific field or equivalent training.
- State licensure as a Medical Lab Technician or national certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist.
Work Environment:
