Position Overview

The Nursing Unit Supervisor is tasked with the implementation and oversight of the objectives and goals for the nursing unit. This role encompasses the management and supervision of nursing staff, ensuring adherence to nursing policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements at all levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and management oversight to nursing personnel across all shifts.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with medical teams and other departments to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Conduct daily reviews of clinical records and ensure appropriate follow-up actions are taken.
  • Engage in daily clinical meetings and evaluate clinical outcomes, initiating action plans as necessary.
  • Perform daily patient rounds and provide immediate feedback to nursing staff.
  • Participate in provider rounds to ensure that medical orders are executed correctly.
  • Address and investigate concerns raised by patients, families, and staff, taking necessary actions to resolve issues.
  • Conduct compliance audits within the nursing unit and provide necessary supervision.
  • Work with the Staff Development Coordinator to create and implement training programs tailored to identified educational needs.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of qualified nursing personnel.
  • Manage nursing department turnover effectively.
  • Oversee employee performance evaluations within the nursing unit, ensuring timely completion.
  • Collaborate with the Infection Preventionist to uphold the center's infection control standards.
  • Ensure the nursing unit operates within budgetary constraints, minimizing waste and unnecessary expenditures.
  • Perform additional duties as required for the efficient operation of the healthcare facility.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Preferred: At least one year of experience in nurse management or leadership.
  • Active and unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse in the relevant state.
  • Proven ability to lead a diverse team effectively.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to interact tactfully with personnel, residents, families, and the public.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current nursing standards and practices.
  • Familiarity with computer systems and applications.
  • Strong focus on customer service excellence.
