Job Description

The primary responsibilities of this position are to maintain and execute daily operations and activities of the City of Chesapeake's warehouse facility, and provide customer service to department staff and partnering city departments. The Warehouse Operations Coordinator will be accountable for material handling, processing received stock, preparing orders for delivery/pick-up, inventory control, loading and unloading supplies and stock, and maintaining warehouse safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides customer service that meets the City's Customer Service Initiative, interacting with internal customers, the public, and other stakeholders.
  • Checks and records quantity and quality of inventory items received against invoices and reports discrepancies.
  • Initiates purchase orders for replacement of standard stock items in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assembles, records, packages, and delivers stock items to user departments.
  • Drives a truck to deliver supplies/materials to various city facility locations and may pick up parts/equipment from facilities or suppliers.
  • Operates a forklift, hand truck, and pallet jack to safely move, stage, palletize, and secure materials/supplies.
  • Restocks shelves and routinely cleans inventory storage area, maintains warehouse safety, and reports discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Initiates return requests of supplies and materials to suppliers and proper disposal of expired, damaged, and deadstock.
  • Documents and reports inventory shrinkage and loss.
  • Prepares and maintains routine records, reports, forms, and logs related to inventory and warehouse operations.
  • Maintains records and monitors employee access to warehouse.
  • May be assigned special projects such as building crates, building shelves, assembling storage units, organizing inventory storage areas.
  • Receives, checks, issues, and stores uniforms.
Requirements:
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education.
  • In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of three months of full-time equivalent experience.
  • Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with the City's policies.
