Position Overview:
  • This role offers the flexibility of working entirely remotely.

  • Candidates are expected to operate during EST business hours.
  • Our esteemed client is seeking a Senior Linux (RedHat) Administrator specializing in AWS/Hybrid Cloud.
  • This engagement is projected for a duration exceeding 12 months, with the possibility of extension, and will be conducted remotely, adhering to EST business hours.

Job Description:
  • The primary responsibility involves the installation and configuration of the Linux operating system, alongside the management and upkeep of Linux-based systems within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment.
  • The role encompasses the deployment, configuration, and continuous maintenance of AWS services, including but not limited to EC2, S3, RDS, and others. Responsibilities also include system maintenance through error log reviews, system backups, and performance monitoring to avert slowdowns and disruptions, as well as license deployments and setups, which may involve establishing a Linux Satellite server and deployment manager, along with providing necessary technical support.
  • This position will deliver hands-on technical assistance for system security monitoring and performance optimization, while also troubleshooting and resolving any emerging issues. Additionally, the resource may be tasked with managing and maintaining related technologies such as DDI (DNS, DHCP, and IPAM).
  • A robust understanding of Linux administration, AWS, and networking is essential for this role.
  • The candidate must be available for on-call duties during evenings and weekends to fulfill business requirements.

Required/Desired Skills:
  • Extensive experience in Linux administration, particularly with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) on the AWS platform - Minimum 3 years.
  • Proficient in monitoring and troubleshooting Linux systems and applications - Minimum 5 years.
  • Hands-on experience in performance monitoring to manage scaling of environments - Minimum 3 years.
  • Experience with Linux OS patching (including instance snapshotting prior to updates) and OS-level vulnerability management - Minimum 7 years.
  • Strong background in Cookie Security, Web Browser Security, server-side encryption, Data Encryption at Rest, and Key management - Minimum 3 years.
  • Experience with Image Management using Redhat Image - Minimum 3 years.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, ELB, SSM, and EBS - Minimum 3 years.
  • Experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining services like Bind, Apache, nginx, MySQL, etc. - Minimum 5 years.
  • Proficient in automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible, CloudFormation, Puppet, or Chef - Minimum 5 years.
  • Strong scripting capabilities, particularly in Bash or Python - Minimum 7 years.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, including VPCs, subnets, and routing - Minimum 3 years.
  • Proficient with network tools such as iptables, Linux IPVS, HAProxy, etc. - Minimum 3 years.
  • Experience in capturing, interpreting, and analyzing network traffic - Minimum 3 years.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, and SNMP - Minimum 2 years.
  • Experience in troubleshooting Apache issues, including performance testing and tuning, restart failures, and request queuing - Minimum 3 years.
  • Experience in multi-platform volume management using SVM, LVM, ZFS, NAS, and the VERITAS volume manager - Minimum 5 years.
  • Experience with security best practices and implementing security controls in an AWS cloud environment - Minimum 3 years.
  • Familiarity with wired and wireless networking hardware and architectures, VLAN setup and configuration, VPN, Routing, IPV4, IPV6 - Minimum 1 year.
  • Experience in user account management for large organizations - Minimum 7 years.
  • Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE, and LPIC) will be considered advantageous.
