Job Summary:

As a professional member of the healthcare team, the Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory therapy services throughout the continuum of care. This includes providing therapeutic and rehabilitative procedures and diagnostic tests for patients with or at risk of cardiopulmonary abnormalities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to develop optimal cardiopulmonary care plans for patients.
  • Perform patient assessments, evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of therapy, and determine which respiratory care activities can be delegated to other care team members.
  • Instruct employees and students in the principles and practices of designated respiratory care procedures/tasks and evaluate their competence.
  • May function as an in-charge therapist and preceptor, as requested.
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an AMA/CoARC approved Respiratory Care program.
  • Registration (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • BCLS certification required. ACLS certification preferred.
  • Licensure to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan.
