Work Environment
The NRO Office of Security and Counterintelligence (OS&CI) is dedicated to ensuring that NRO mission support is upheld through ongoing development, management of policy-driven guidance, and safeguarding our assets.
A vital aspect of OS&CI's mission is the maintenance of a trusted workforce.To this end, the NRO is looking for Polygraph Examiners for its Polygraph Management Branch (PMB), which acts as a critical resource for the Personnel Security Division (PSD) in support of its primary objective of adjudicating Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access within NRO's highly sensitive operational framework.
These roles will function as Security Specialists (Polygraph Examiner), conducting operational counterintelligence (CI), counterespionage (CE), and personnel security polygraph examinations. These are specialized Polygraph Examiner roles.The responsibilities encompass a broad spectrum of intricate assignments and atypical situations necessitating extensive expertise and experience in the technical domain.
All polygraph examinations involve case file evaluation, interviewing, information elicitation, and report composition.The NRO Cadre is currently gathering resumes for consideration for existing and upcoming opportunities in Chantilly, VA for Full Performance level (GG-11 to GG-13), Security Specialist (Polygraph Examiner), occupational series 0080.

Key Responsibilities
Achieve and maintain federal polygraph examiner certification.
Conduct polygraph examinations on a diverse population requiring access to TS/SCI information, which may involve interviewing high-profile examinees and extracting information on highly sensitive security matters.
Ensure that polygraph examinations strictly adhere to legal and regulatory standards, and meet the security and ethical obligations of the NRO.
Brief leadership on significant and/or noteworthy cases.Coordinate with fellow polygraph examiners and supervisors for status updates and guidance as necessary.
Review available security and supporting documentation to determine the best course of action for polygraph testing.
Engage in special projects and initiatives, and undertake special assignments.
Safeguard classified materials through sound security practices to ensure the protection of classified information.
Apply DoD Directive; DODI, ODNI policy, and NRO Directives pertaining to polygraph and personnel security.
Qualifications Required
Candidates who are not federally trained and certified must successfully complete the twelve-week Psychophysiological Detection of Deception (PDD) training course at the National Center for Credibility Assessment (NCCA).
Admission to the NCCA PDD training program necessitates:
U.S. Citizenship
At least 25 years of age (may be waived)
A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university (transcripts must be provided)
A minimum of two years of investigative experience (may be waived)
Successful completion of a Counterintelligence Security Polygraph (CSP) examination
Once certified by the NRO, the candidate must meet the minimum standards for DoD Certification continuation as a Polygraph Examiner
Proficiency in computer software, particularly the Microsoft Office suite.
Skills in applying data-gathering, analytical, and evaluative techniques to identify, consider, and resolve issues concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program policy and operations; demonstrates the ability to analyze, plan, and adjust individual work to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
Skill in delivering briefings, preparing reports, and developing training materials on a wide range of issues and topics related to program activities.Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Qualifying experience may have been gained in any public or private sector role, but must clearly demonstrate past experience in applying the specific competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position as described above.

Overtime Requirements:

**These positions are Full Performance DCIPS roles. The NRO is accepting applications from U.S. Citizens and current Federal Government employees for these positions. Trial Period
