Heavy Industry Mechanic

We are seeking a Heavy Industry Mechanic to join our maintenance team at AtWork Personnel Services - NW Houston. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of extrusion systems and related machinery to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency in production operations.
This role requires a proactive and safety-conscious individual with a strong technical background in industrial equipment, mechanical systems, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues with extrusion machines, including extruders, die heads, cooling systems, and ancillary equipment.
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and necessary adjustments on extrusion machinery to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
- Assist with the installation, commissioning, and setup of new extrusion machinery and production equipment.
- Replace worn or defective parts such as gears, bearings, belts, shafts, and seals, ensuring the correct specifications and quality standards are met.
- Calibrate and adjust machines to ensure precise operation within specifications, adjusting temperatures, speeds, pressures, and other key parameters.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, parts usage, and machine performance. Complete work orders and reports in a timely manner.
- Work closely with production, engineering, and quality control teams to minimize downtime and improve machine performance. Provide feedback and suggestions for improvements.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and best practices to ensure a safe working environment. Comply with local, state, and federal regulations related to industrial equipment maintenance.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an industrial mechanic, with a strong background in repairing and maintaining extrusion machinery (e.g., plastic, rubber, metal extrusion).
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and extrusion machinery operations.
- Strong ability to identify problems, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and work in a physically demanding environment. Comfort with working in tight spaces and around heavy equipment.
