Position Overview

Geisinger Health System is seeking a dedicated and skilled Inpatient Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac ICU team. This role offers a competitive hiring incentive for qualified candidates, with a minimum starting rate and additional shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Key Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments, planning, organizing, executing, and evaluating nursing care tailored to meet patient needs.
  • Fostering positive responses from patients and their families to ensure optimal care, safety, and satisfaction.
  • Providing compassionate and empathetic interactions during patient care.
  • Coordinating patient care and facilitating effective communication among healthcare staff.
  • Meeting qualifications to deliver care within the designated nursing unit.
  • Ensuring exceptional patient and family experiences by enhancing all interactions.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Completing assessments in accordance with established protocols and unit standards.
  • Addressing the diverse physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and their families throughout their care journey.
  • Developing, coordinating, and implementing care plans that encompass patient and family education, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Administering direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic procedures in line with established policies.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of nursing interventions and adjusting care plans based on patient responses.
  • Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to proactively address patient needs.
  • Engaging in problem-solving and troubleshooting regarding equipment care and usage.
  • Participating actively in team efforts to achieve unit and organizational goals.
  • Contributing to quality and safety initiatives within the department.

Work Environment

This position is primarily based in a clinical setting. The RN is accountable for fulfilling all job-specific responsibilities and adhering to organizational policies and procedures.
