Position Overview:
As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will deliver and oversee comprehensive medical care for individuals within a correctional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver and oversee direct patient care, including thorough physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for individuals in a correctional setting.
2. Prescribe medications and treatment plans tailored to the assessed medical needs of patients.
3. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of all healthcare services provided.
4. Refer patients to specialists and coordinate care with relevant healthcare components as necessary.
5. Supervise and coordinate the healthcare activities of nursing and support personnel as required.
6. Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, ensuring compliance with quality improvement initiatives and safety standards.
7. Uphold the Standards of Professional Conduct and embody the core philosophies of the organization.
8. Respond to inquiries from security personnel and healthcare staff in alignment with facility guidelines, ensuring adherence to conduct and command protocols.
9. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Comprehensive understanding of legal and ethical standards governing medical care delivery.
Ability to uphold quality, safety, and infection control standards.
Familiarity with current principles and practices for medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in your area of expertise.
Knowledge of federal, state, and correctional regulations pertaining to medical service provision.
Ability to observe, assess, and document patient symptoms and progress.
Knowledge of relevant medications and ability to prescribe appropriate dosages while instructing patients on proper usage.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Understanding of clinical operations and procedures.
Proficiency in resource organization and priority setting.
Work Environment:
Work will be conducted in both clinical and administrative settings.
Moderate physical activity is required.
The clinical environment may involve exposure to potentially hazardous materials and situations, necessitating adherence to safety protocols and the use of protective equipment.
