Medstar is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our medical center complex. This includes performing daily routine inspections, completing assigned preventive, corrective, and casualty prevention maintenance duties, and maintaining equipment, machinery, buildings, and facilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Daily Routine Maintenance: Perform daily routine maintenance rounds and inspections of mechanical rooms, equipment, machinery, buildings, and facilities within assigned areas to ensure proper operation and working condition.
- Malfunction Identification and Repair: Determine the type and extent of malfunctions and adjust, repair, or replace parts or components as necessary. Reassemble and test equipment for proper operation and report any serious problems to the supervisor.
- General Maintenance: Perform general plumbing maintenance, routine electrical maintenance, routine carpentry tasks, and HVAC equipment services.
- Fire Safety and Prevention: Inspect, collect, maintain, and record data for all fire extinguishers.
- Painting and Grounds Maintenance: Perform routine minor painting of walls, ceilings, doors, woodwork, furniture, and fixtures, and participate in snow removal assignments.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work cooperatively with other medical center departments, such as Environmental Services, Materials Management, and Clinical Engineering, to provide excellent service to customers.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: 5-7 years' experience in a maintenance position in a construction trade, with a high level of skill and knowledge in HVAC mechanical, electrical, or carpentry backgrounds.
