Job Summary

This position is part of the Maintenance team at GAF. The primary responsibility of a Maintenance Technician is to evaluate, repair, and replace materials, products, and components for conformance to specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all work in a safe and efficient manner, following all safety procedures.
  • Participate in continuing training and maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Detect and report faulty operation, defective material, and equipment, and collaborate with teammates and appropriate personnel to resolve issues.
  • Operate machines and equipment in compliance with Standard Operating Procedure and communicate quality and machine problems to supervisors and team members.
  • Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment, ensuring operational downtime is minimized, and conduct Preventative Maintenance procedures to ensure the essential care, maintenance, and operation of equipment.
  • Record essential data onto work orders and verify component information, specifications, and location before installation.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, electrical instrumentation, and forklifts safely and professionally.
  • Work on pipe systems, perform welding, and millwright work, including aligning equipment and checking installation for square and belt tension.
  • Remove and install bearings and perform all maintenance work required on bearings.
  • Work with predictive technologies to improve operations and maintain accurate records, including Maximo, storeroom, calibration, and drawings.
  • Assist supervision in designing new equipment and replacement equipment to enhance plant electrical systems.
  • Complete Preventative Maintenance and Down Day work orders with precision and work scheduled shifts and overtime as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch, climb industrial ladders and steps, twist and bend.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (advanced degree preferred)
  • 3 or more years of demonstrated experience in an Industrial Maintenance Position
  • Certificate or higher degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field coupled with 1 or more years of Maintenance experience in an Industrial setting
  • 5 or more years of experience in an Operator role at GAF AND actively pursuing Certificate or higher degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field
