Job Summary

The Environmental Manager will serve as a liaison between the Contractor and Installation Environmental Office on environmental matters. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with installation, NAVFAC, state, federal, and local regulations, as well as the environmental requirements of the contract.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and oversee environmental management plans and programs.
  • Ensure Contractor and subcontractor compliance with regulations and contract requirements.
  • Develop, update, and implement plans for storm water pollution prevention, emergency planning, community right-to-know, clean air act, pollution prevention, safe drinking water act, national environmental policy act, endangered species act, national pollutant discharge elimination system, and lead paint/asbestos management.
  • Attend Installation Environmental Office meetings and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain documents, records, permits, and environmental data required by regulations and the contract.
  • Oversee hazardous waste collection, storage, labeling, and distribution.
  • Oversee environmental sampling and write technical reports.
  • Manage Spill Response Team activities.
  • Prepare hazardous waste reports and inventory reports.
  • Operate and inspect hazardous waste accumulation areas.
  • Assist in developing and implementing pest management plans.
  • Ensure environmental training is attended by Contractor and subcontractor personnel.
  • Manage EMS and QMS, including HMMS.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Working knowledge of portable field analytical equipment, test kits, gas specific meters, photo and flame ionizing equipment, sampling equipment, and personal safety equipment.
  • Knowledge of applicable government environmental regulations.
  • Ability to keep certifications and training current.
  • Ability to develop policy, procedures, operating guidance, and training related to Federal or Military environmental programs and instructions.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
