Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Area Curriculum & Instruction Specialist to ensure fidelity of systems in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment with the overall goal of achieving successful learning outcomes for students at all campuses within an assigned area.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the implementation of Spectrum's educational policies, procedures, and standards, which are aligned to California State Frameworks/Content Standards, CDE, and educational law.
  • Provide support, guidance, and supervision to teachers in educational assessment, curriculum, instruction, classroom systems, and state standards.
  • Oversee both formal and informal academic assessment procedures for campuses in assigned areas to monitor student progress and rates of student achievement.
  • Provide training and support to on-site education teams in the use of student data for instructional decision-making purposes.
  • Oversee the implementation of on-site intervention instruction and curriculum with an emphasis on direct instruction in the areas of reading, writing, spelling, and math for students performing below grade level.
  • Research and make recommendations for the use of evidence-based curricula in assigned area classrooms.
  • Provide oversight to area education teams on lesson plans, transcripts, report cards, grading systems, and progress reports for academic classrooms.
  • Guide each campus's instructional staff in the development of long-term and short-term classroom goals and assist in determining priorities and timelines for implementation.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance checks for assigned campuses at the individual student, staff, classroom, and site level and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Assess the training needs of all instructional staff within assigned areas and design staff development plans.
  • Provide training and support within assigned areas to education coordinators, teachers, and related services providers in the IEP process.
  • Support the implementation of classroom systems, including tracking behavior improvement and reinforcement.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with parents, care providers, and district personnel in assigned areas.
  • Attend and participate in all required on-site and regional meetings and participate in staff development through conferences, trainings, and seminars.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher in special education or a related field.
  • Must hold currently or have the ability to obtain a valid special education preliminary credential.
  • A valid state driver's license is required for travel between locations.
  • This role is 100% traveling to campuses onsite.
  • Minimum of three years prior experience working in a special education program setting.
  • Prior experience working in an educational leadership and/or supervisory role.
  • Prior experience in the development, assessment, and management of curriculum content, effective teaching strategies, classroom management systems, data-driven decision making, individual education plans, and functional analysis/behavior intervention plans highly preferred.
