Job Summary

The Arc Oneida-Lewis is seeking a skilled Floor Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our commercial sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine floor maintenance, including stripping, waxing, and buffing.
  • Maintain carpeted areas, including cleaning and spot cleaning.
  • Supervise and assist building custodians as needed.
  • Instruct Custodian I & II on proper usage of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • Notify the Custodian Coordinator when supplies are running low or problems arise.
  • Secure the building at the end of the workday.
  • Report any damages to the building to the immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain current knowledge of janitorial-related MSDS and follow all safety protocols.
  • Dress in a neat and clean uniform at all times.
  • Promote and adhere to all elements of the Agency's Corporate Compliance and HIPAA policies.
  • Maintain and promote confidentiality in accordance with Agency policies.
  • Comply with all aspects of the Agency's Safety policies and procedures.
  • Serve on Agency committees as assigned.
  • Attend meetings as dictated by job responsibilities and/or as required.
  • Attend and complete all mandatory training sessions.
  • Adhere to scheduled hours and submit completed timesheets to the supervisor on time each payroll period.
Qualifications
  • Ability to work independently and function as a team member with a wide range of individuals.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Thorough knowledge of machines and cleaning chemicals.
  • Skills necessary to use machines and apply chemicals in a proper and safe manner.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Normal visual and hearing abilities.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Adequate manual dexterity.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to move furniture, equipment, and other heavy objects.
  • Ability to assume awkward positions at times, including bending, stooping, and lifting.
  • Ability to access entire Agency (travel to other sites).
  • Clean NYS operator's license and ability to operate Agency vehicles.
  • Ability to observe work in progress and inspect buildings to verify compliance with cleaning standards.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds (furniture, equipment, etc.).

Any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years experience in floor stripping and waxing.
