Overview:
The Cath Lab Registered Nurse will engage in a dynamic role, working 70 hours per pay period with on-call responsibilities once a week and every fourth weekend. Shifts will vary between Monday to Friday, with call coverage extending from Friday to Sunday at 0700. Prior nursing experience is preferred, particularly in critical care settings.

SCOPE OF SERVICE:
Nurses operate in various settings throughout the hospital and the continuum of care.

Customers include:
patients, families, medical staff, hospital associates, executive leadership, colleagues, visitors, and regulatory agents.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:


MercyOne Dubuque/Dyersville Medical Center embraces a shared leadership philosophy, encouraging nursing staff to take accountability for their practice.

The nursing organization features a flat structure.

The professional registered nurse reports to the Clinical Director, who reports to the Vice President of Patient Care Services/CNO, who, in turn, reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

While no subordinates formally report to this position, the incumbent may mentor or precept other nursing staff and delegate tasks to unlicensed assistive personnel as per the Iowa Nursing Practice Act and Mercy Delegation Policy.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Adhere to the principles of care and expected behaviors outlined in MercyOne Dubuque/Dyersville Medical Center's Model of Caring and Trinity Health's Code of Conduct, fostering a climate where all customers are treated in alignment with MercyOne's Mission and Values.

Practice within the legal scope of a registered professional nurse as defined by the Iowa Board of Nursing Practice Act and deliver competent care in accordance with standards set by professional nursing organizations, MercyOne Dubuque/Dyersville Medical Center, and external regulatory bodies.

Standard 4. Planning: The registered nurse develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to achieve expected outcomes.

Standard 5. Implementation: The registered nurse implements the identified plan.

Health Teaching and Health Promotion: The registered nurse employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.

Consultation: The graduate-level prepared specialty nurse or advanced practice registered nurse provides consultation to influence the identified plan and enhance the abilities of others.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position requires the ability to work designated shift lengths, including 8 and 12 hours.

Utilize appropriate safety transfer techniques and body mechanics when moving or transporting patients or equipment.

Possess the physical stamina to meet the demands of this role, including frequent walking, bending, and standing.

This role requires the use of hands for simple and firm grasping and fine manipulation.


The essential functions of the RN include performing the following activities continuously for a significant portion of the workday: Physical activities performed frequently (34-66% of the workday) include standing; physical activities performed occasionally (0-33% of the workday) include sitting, twisting, and squatting.

Both hands are utilized to perform job duties.


This position requires lifting and frequent carrying (21-50% of work time) and occasionally (6-10% of work time) up to 35 lbs. with assistance or assistive devices.


Must understand and accept the potential exposure to environmental elements that may impact the workplace, such as infectious diseases, chemical fumes, dust, noise, and physical injury from an out-of-control patient.

Contact with patients occurs under a variety of circumstances.

Must be able to function effectively under stressful situations.

This role requires a high level of mental concentration to meet established deadlines, with frequent interruptions.

Must be able to speak, hear, and see at near visual acuity levels.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED):

Education, Licensure, and Certification

A. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred or must be obtained within four years of hire.

B. Must be a registered nurse with an active license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa.

C. Certification by a nationally recognized nursing organization is preferred and strongly encouraged.

D. The registered nurse should continuously seek opportunities to enhance their professional nursing practice. Membership in a relevant professional nursing organization is recommended.

E.

Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within six months of hire and every three years thereafter.

F. Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) is required within 30 days of hire and every two years thereafter.
