Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a skilled Senior Cost Manager or Quantity Surveyor to oversee commercial management, cost control, and estimation services for a major data center construction initiative.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the estimation and negotiation of change orders throughout the construction process.
  • Develop and present comprehensive cost plans, ensuring alignment with project milestones.
  • Collaborate with design teams and contractors to refine cost estimates.
  • Ensure accuracy in data reconciliation with general contractors.
  • Engage with project stakeholders to gather status updates for cost estimate revisions.
  • Draft detailed responses to contractor submissions, including executive summaries.
  • Coordinate cost information from various sources for discussions with suppliers and contractors.
  • Influence engineering priorities based on cost implications.
  • Proactively address scheduling challenges with minimal oversight.
  • Conduct cost checks and valuations on significant projects, ensuring timely and precise reporting.
  • Participate in post-contract cost variance assessments and change control procedures.
  • Oversee cost impact management and maintain tracking logs for commitments.
  • Prepare funding presentations and facilitate value engineering sessions with stakeholders.
Pre-Contract Responsibilities:
  • Generate cost plans and estimates during the design phase, providing updates at key milestones.
  • Offer commercial insights during design evaluations and value engineering initiatives.
  • Review contractor pricing and lead negotiations to secure fair contract terms.
Post-Contract Responsibilities:
  • Execute quantity surveying, cost control, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure effective management of post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
  • Oversee cost auditing and valuation processes, ensuring robust validation methods are in place.
  • Compile monthly cost reports for client presentations.
  • Facilitate timely negotiations and agreements on final accounts.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in construction cost management.
  • Relevant degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, or engineering.
  • Experience in full lifecycle cost management for commercial construction projects.
  • RICS accreditation is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience with large-scale data center or mission-critical projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cost management for medium to large construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction industry practices, including procurement routes and value management.
