Job Summary

We are seeking a Diet Aide to join our team at a senior living community. As a Diet Aide, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the dining experience for our residents. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing and serving meals, maintaining a clean and safe food service environment, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals to residents, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness of meal requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe food service environment, including the pantry and kitchen areas.
  • Assist with food preparation, including preparing cold carts and maintaining proper serving utensils.
  • Remove soiled patient trays and ensure sanitation of meal carts and food service areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, such as assisting kitchen staff or nursing staff to ensure meal service is timely and residents have received the proper meal and meal type.

Requirements

  • 16 years or older, pending specific state requirements.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Prior experience with one-on-one customer service interaction preferred.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Successful background check and drug screen, state specific.
  • Health screening and TB tests, state specific.
  • ServSafe Certification and State Food Handlers Card, state specific (will train).
  • The ability to work holiday and weekend shift schedules.
  • Basic computer skills.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

This role requires mobility to stand and walk extensively during meal preparation and service. Lifting, carrying trays and boxes, up to 25lbs. Push/Pull Food Hot Boxes up to 50lbs. Bend, stoop for access to carts, food, trays, and other kitchen equipment. Manual dexterity for the use of kitchen utensils and tools. Visuals for reading menus, labels, and directions. Hearing to respond to verbal communications. Taste and Smell to assess food quality, freshness, and adherence to dietary requirements.
