Job Summary:

As a Meat Seafood Department Lead at Hannaford Supermarkets, you will be responsible for leading the department operations in accordance with established department standard practices. You will ensure that all company policies, procedures, and government regulations are complied with. You will also be responsible for utilizing retail store systems that support job functions, including management planning, scheduling, CAO, and RF Unit. Additionally, you will treat all co-workers with fairness, dignity, and respect, and meet or exceed all applicable management planning guidelines. You will develop product knowledge in all areas of the meat/seafood department, including cooking procedures, and assist in training other associates when assigned. You will maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and comply with company personal appearance policy. You will also maintain solid communication in the department and throughout the organization, support company safety standards, and communicate any needed equipment repairs or maintenance work needed. You will keep your work area free from debris and safety hazards, observe and maintain company sanitation and food safety standards, and perform all other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the department operations in accordance with established department standard practices.

Requirements:

  • Ability to lead and direct others.
  • Meat Cutter experience preferred.
  • Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and desire to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements to comply with company policy.
Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to use computers and other communication systems required to perform the job functions.
  • Lift cases weighing 40 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. on occasion.
  • Meet established volume activity standards.
  • Stand or walk 100% of the time while working in temperatures of 45 degrees Fahrenheit the majority of the time.
  • Perform repetitive grasping, twisting, reaching, bending, and hand/arm motions as the product is identified, wrapped, priced, and weighed.
  • Use hands to continuously feel objects, use tools and equipment to cut and prepare meat/seafood products.
  • Be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning materials, packaging materials, and food products.

  • Supervise performance of all duties and responsibilities of all meat and seafood associates as/when assigned by management.
  • Use good judgment in the delegation, assignment, and follow-up required for the efficient performance in the department.
  • Greet and assist customers with locating and selecting products.
  • Perform meat, meat cutter, and seafood associate responsibilities as directed.
  • Assist in effectively ordering and maintaining inventory control to maximize sales and limit shrink issues.
  • Responsible for the replenishment of merchandise paying careful attention to rotation of products according to prescribed standards.
  • Identify, wrap, price, and weigh all meat department items in accordance with specified procedures outlined by standard practice.
  • Maintain accurate, neat records of production, shrink, sales, and inventory.
  • Make price changes and maintain correct prices in scales as directed.
  • Receive any meat and seafood delivery, rotate, and put in appropriate storage area.
  • Wash, rinse, and sanitize equipment in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Adhere to highest product quality standards to support our department strategy.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
