We're looking for experienced Operating Room Nurses to join our team at Travel Nurse Across America. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to delivering exceptional patient care.
Job SummaryWe have an immediate opening for an Operating Room Nurse in Cooperstown, NY. As an OR Nurse, you will be responsible for assisting physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, providing pre- and post-surgery care, and educating patients on their treatment plans.
Responsibilities- Provide basic bedside care to patients undergoing surgery
- Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication as per doctor's orders
- Serve as the communication liaison between patients' family members and operating team members
- Ensure correct procedures are being performed on the right patients
- Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician and teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs
- Respond to comfort and safety needs of patients
- Accurately handle and care for specimens
- Monitor equipment used during surgery
- Inventory surgical items pre- and post-procedure
- Select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures
- Inventory surgical items pre- and post-procedure
- Assist physicians with direct surgical care
- Help control bleeding
- Suture patients following surgery
To be eligible for this role, you should have 1-2 years of recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant. Additionally, you should be able to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty. You should also be able to easily lift up to 20 pounds and may need to lift patients weighing up to 50 pounds.
