About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer with expertise in Big Data to join our team at Ask IT. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable and efficient big data solutions using Java and related technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop large-scale big data applications using Java, Scala, and related technologies
  • Work with our data engineering team to implement data pipelines and architectures using Cassandra, Kafka, and Apache Storm
  • Develop RESTful APIs and JSON-based data formats to integrate with our existing systems
  • Collaborate with our QA team to ensure high-quality code and robust testing
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of our codebase
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in big data and Java development
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in building scalable e-commerce applications
  • 2+ years of experience with big data methodologies involving Cassandra, Kafka, and Apache Storm
  • 5+ years of experience with building scalable, high-performing, and robust Java applications
  • 5+ years of experience developing using J2EE technologies such as Servlet/JSP/Filters, JNDI, JDBC, JMS, JMX, RMI, Java Web Services, or related skills
  • 5+ years of experience developing with web/app containers such as WebLogic, WebSphere, Apache/Tomcat, JBoss, or related skills
  • 5+ years of experience with advanced scripting skills in at least one of the following: Python, Perl, or Shell, and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Experience with Eclipse or other IDE development tools
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and related tools (i.e., Jenkins, Hudson, Maven)
  • Experience with Code Quality Governance related tools (Sonar, Gerrit, PMD, FindBugs, Checkstyle, Emma, Cobertura, JIRA, etc.)
  • Experience with Source Code Management Tools (GitHub, SVN, CVS, Clearcase)
  • Knowledge of standard tools for optimizing and testing code
  • Ability to operate effectively and independently in a dynamic, fluid environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in big data development
  • Skills in Java, Scala, Cassandra, Kafka, Apache Storm, and related technologies
