Position Summary:
The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for executing all dispensing functions following the evaluation of physician orders and input into the computer system. This role involves continuous monitoring of patient medication regimens and, under established protocols, determining appropriate medication dosages, placing orders, and requesting necessary laboratory tests to ensure effective treatment. Additionally, the Clinical Pharmacist supervises pharmacy technicians to guarantee the proper preparation and delivery of medications.
Key Duties:
- Assess physician orders for suitability and safety across all age groups, including infants, children, adults, and seniors.
- Ensure accurate and prompt entry of orders into the computer system.
- Dispense new and routine medications, manage Pyxis systems, refill lists, and oversee controlled substance transactions.
- Conduct precise IV and chemotherapy preparation.
- Perform clinical functions and therapeutic monitoring of medications for various patient demographics.
- Collaborate with medical, nursing, and professional staff regarding medication therapy and specific medication inquiries.
- Oversee narcotic inventory within the pharmacy and on nursing units.
- Engage in quarterly assignments and act as a liaison with nursing staff.
- Understand and adhere to fire, disaster, and safety protocols relevant to the pharmacy environment.
- Execute additional related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy is required; Pharm.D. is preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience is required.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must possess a clear and active State of Florida Pharmacist License.
