- Use effective communication strategies to achieve intended outcomes.
- Participate in problem identification and resolution in collaboration with the Registered Nurse.
- Prioritize work assignments appropriately and notify Registered Nurse if unable to complete tasks.
- Comply with regulatory requirements and standards of practice.
- Clinical Expertise:
- Correctly identify patients and scheduled procedures.
- Perform patient care activities considering age-related needs and report unusual findings.
- Collect data and provide timely information to assist with the revision of the care plan.
- Discuss discharge barriers with the Registered Nurse.
- Operational Efficiency:
- Apply standard precautions and maintain a safe environment.
- Observe patient conditions and report sudden changes or unusual findings.
- Demonstrate competencies and participate in performance improvement activities.
- Set up and organize the surgical room and perform scrub role according to standards.
- Assist with patient transfers, transport, and stabilization.
- Customer Service:
- Practice customer service standards and resolve issues promptly.
- Provide information to patients and maintain confidentiality.
- Ensure a clean and functional work environment.
- Professional Development:
- Be viewed as an effective team member willing to assist others.
- Address conflict constructively and take accountability for actions.
- Participate in professional development activities and keep informed about unit activities.
- Adhere to attendance policy and support a collaborative environment.
- Fiscal Responsibility:
- Minimize overtime and identify areas for system improvement.
- Maximize the use of resources.
- Two (2) years of operating room scrubbing experience within the last three years.
- Graduate of an approved surgical technologist program.
- Surgical Technologist Certificate from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting OR National Center for Competency Testing Certificate - Technologist in Surgery.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Experience requirements may be waived with completion of an appropriate program.
- Maintain required certifications.
- Communicate clearly and concisely.
- Have full command of the English language.
- This is an on-call position with varying days and hours.
